Instructions

1-Preheat your oven: Preheating your oven to 200ยฐC and lining a baking sheet with baking paper for easy cleanup. This step sets the stage for even baking and helps your cookies come out just right.

2-Grind the cardamom seeds: Grind the 1.5 teaspoons of cardamom seeds and set aside 0.5 teaspoon for decoration later this adds a fresh, aromatic touch. In a large bowl, mix together the 14 tablespoons of butter, 0.5 cup granulated sugar, 0.5 cup brown sugar, 0.25 cup light syrup, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar or extract, and 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon until well combined.

3-Mix the flour and form the dough: Then, add the 2 cups of all-purpose flour and mix by hand until a dough ball forms; this should take about 3 minutes to keep it from getting overworked. Divide the dough into two parts, roll each into long sausage shapes, and press them onto the prepared baking sheet.

4-Decorate and bake: For the decoration, combine the reserved 0.5 teaspoon of ground cardamom with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and sprinkle it on top. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, then let the cookies cool slightly before slicing them diagonally. The whole process takes about 20 minutes of prep and 12 minutes of cooking, totaling 32 minutes, and it makes around 24 cookies.
