๐Ÿ„ Enjoy perfectly crispy fried mushrooms with a golden crunch that makes for a delightful snack or appetizer.
๐Ÿ”ฅ This recipe combines a flavorful seasoned coating with quick frying for mushrooms that are tender inside and satisfyingly crispy outside.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

– 1 1/4 cups panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch and a golden finish

– 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning for flavorful kick

– 1 teaspoon marjoram for herbal note

– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder for subtle, savory depth

– 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt for balancing flavors and seasoning

– 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper for mild spice and complexity

– 1 cup buttermilk for helping batter stick and adding tangy touch

– 1 1/2 lbs white button mushrooms, stems trimmed as main ingredient

– 1/2 cup all-purpose flour for the base of crispy coating

– Vegetable oil for frying to ensure even cooking

Instructions

1-First, wash and thoroughly dry your 1 1/2 lbs of white button mushrooms to ensure the coating sticks well.

2-Combine 1 1/4 cups panko breadcrumbs with 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning, 1 teaspoon marjoram, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper in a bowl.

3-In another bowl, pour 1 cup buttermilk.

4-Place the mushrooms in a zipper bag, add 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, and shake to coat them evenly. This step is crucial for that extra crispiness.

5-Heat 1 1/4 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy pot to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

6-Dip each floured mushroom in the buttermilk, then roll it in the seasoned panko mixture.

7-Fry in small batches for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown, then remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

8-Serve them warm for the best taste and texture.
