๐Ÿž Bake your own fresh and flavorful homemade bread that fills your home with inviting aromas.
๐Ÿฅ– This recipe offers a satisfying and versatile loaf perfect for any meal or snack.

  • Total Time: 3 hours 45 minutes
  • Yield: 2 loaves

Ingredients

– 2 cups warm water (105-115ยฐF / 474g)

– 1 tablespoon active dry yeast

– 1/4 cup honey or sugar (85g honey or 50g sugar)

– 2 teaspoons salt

– 2 tablespoons oil (canola or vegetable) (30 ml)

– 4 to 5 1/2 cups all-purpose or bread flour (500g to 688g)

Instructions

1-Ready to dive into baking? This step-by-step guide will walk you through making homemade bread that’s fresh and flavorful. Start by proofing the yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar or honey until it foams, which takes about 5 to 10 minutes. This activates the yeast and sets the foundation for a great rise.

2-Next, add the remaining sugar or honey, salt, oil, and 3 cups of flour to the mixture and combine everything well. Gradually add another cup of flour, mix thoroughly, and keep adding flour 1/2 cup at a time until the dough pulls away from the bowl’s sides. Once mixed, knead the dough on a floured surface for 4 to 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic this helps develop the texture.

3-After kneading, place the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Punch down the dough to release air, divide it into two portions, shape them into logs, and put them in greased loaf pans. Cover and let them rise again for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Finally, bake at 350ยฐF for 30 to 33 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped, then brush with butter and cool for at least 10 minutes.

Notes

๐ŸŒก๏ธ Use fresh yeast and proof it to activate properly.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Speed up rising by placing dough in a warm, turned-off oven with door slightly open.
๐Ÿž Avoid adding too much flour during kneading to keep bread light and airy.
