  • Yield: About 24-30 cookies 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 1/4 cups (281.25 g) all-purpose flour builds structure and richness

2 teaspoons (8 g) baking powder builds structure and richness

1/4 teaspoon (1.5 g) salt

3 large eggs (150 g) builds structure and richness

1/2 cup (100 g) sugar

1/2 cup (113.5 g or 8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, softened builds structure and richness

1.5 teaspoons almond extract (or anise extract)

2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar creates a sweet, smooth finish

2 to 3 tablespoons (30 g) milk creates a sweet, smooth finish

1 teaspoon almond extract (or anise extract)

4 tablespoons (40 g) non-pareils or sprinkles adds color and fun

Instructions

1-First, prepare the dough: Whisk the 2 1/4 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt in a small bowl. In another bowl, beat the 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of softened butter with an electric mixer until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the 3 large eggs one at a time, then mix in the 1.5 teaspoons of almond extract. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until just combined.

2-Next, shape and chill: Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them 1 inch apart. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to keep them from spreading.

3-Then, bake: Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF. Bake the cookies for 10 12 minutes until they are set but not browned. Let them cool completely on a wire rack.

4-Finally, frost and decorate: Whisk together 2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of almond extract until smooth. Dip or pour the frosting over the cooled cookies and immediately add the 4 tablespoons of sprinkles while the frosting is still wet. Let everything set before serving.
