⭐ Whip up Star Spangled Gumdrops for dazzling patriotic treats – chewy, fruity, and fun for 4th of July parties!
🇺🇸 Homemade with customizable stars, easy to share at celebrations without fancy equipment.

  • Total Time: 11 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 50 gumdrops

Ingredients

– 1 cup granulated sugar – sweetens the base and helps with the chewy texture

– 1 cup applesauce (natural, no sugar added) – adds fruity moisture while keeping sweetness controlled

– 1 package (3 oz or 85g) cherry-flavored gelatin – delivers the red “cherry” flavor

– 1 package (3 oz or 85g) berry blue-flavored gelatin – delivers the blue “berry” flavor

– 2 envelopes (about 2 tablespoons or 28g) unflavored gelatin – helps the gumdrops set properly and stay chewy

– 1 teaspoon lemon juice – brightens flavor and balances sweetness

Instructions

1-First Step: Coat an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray. If you’re using metal pans, chill them beforehand so the gelatin sets faster.

2-Second Step: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup applesauce (natural, no sugar added), both gelatin flavors, unflavored gelatin, and lemon juice. Let the mixture stand for 1 minute.

3-Third Step: Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches a full boil. This should happen smoothly as the gelatin dissolves.

4-Fourth Step: Boil for exactly 1 minute, then pour the hot mixture into your prepared baking dish.

5-Fifth Step: Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight until firm. For best cutting, don’t rush this step.

6-Sixth Step: Dust a cutting board with sugar. Loosen the edges of gelatin with a spatula, then invert the slab onto the board.

7-Seventh Step: Cut into star shapes using small cookie cutters coated in sugar. Smaller cutters help maximize the yield.

8-Eighth Step: Place gumdrops on sugared wax paper. Let them dry for about 8 hours until slightly sticky.

9-Final Step: Roll gumdrops in additional sugar and store in an airtight container.
