  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 8 rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale

400g Plant-based ground beef substitute

1 cup Fresh Thai basil leaves

3 cloves Garlic minced

2 medium Shallots finely chopped

3 tbsp Soy sauce or tamari

2 tbsp Vegetable oil

12 sheets Rice paper wrappers

Fresh vegetables cucumber, carrot, bean sprouts

Ground beef or chicken or pork

Black pepper

Fresh grated ginger

Chinese 5 spice

Thai chili sauce

Chopped green onions

Persion cucumbers

Cilantro

Chopped roasted peanuts

Flour tortillas

Chili paste

Toasted sesame oil

Instructions

1-Prepare all ingredients: Finely chop garlic, shallots, and fresh Thai basil. Julienne fresh vegetables such as cucumber and carrot for that crisp texture.

2-Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and shallots, sautΓ©ing for 2-3 minutes until fragrant, similar to cooking the beef mixture in the classic version.

3-Add plant-based ground beef substitute to the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart and stirring until browned, then mix in tamari or soy sauce and Thai chili sauce for flavor.

4-Stir in soy sauce or tamari and fresh Thai basil leaves. Cook for another 2 minutes to let the flavors blend, much like simmering the beef until fully coated.

5-Soften rice paper wrappers by dipping them in warm water until they’re pliable.

6-Lay the softened wrapper flat and add the cooked filling along with fresh vegetables.

7-Roll it up tightly to seal everything inside, then serve warm. For a full meal, consider adding rice cooked in coconut milk as an optional side.
